Creative play

The morning started off nicely today with Little Brother allowing Big Brother and me to enjoy our breakfast in peace while he played. I even got him to take his nap without much fuss, and Big Brother and I got to enjoy some story time snuggles! We love the  Dolly Parton Imagination Library ; while the program was running in our area, he got a book each month in the mail for free! His excitement on book delivery day was fun to behold – he would practically bounce back to the house after checking the mail, cellophane-wrapped book in his little hands, pleading to read it right away.

Today’s favorite book is Truck Stop. We read it together twice, and he even felt inspired to make his own 18-wheeler and flatbed “trucks” with his Magnatiles. I can’t say enough good things about this toy. When he got them as a gift for Christmas and his birthday last year, they immediately became a favorite and have lived on our coffee table ever since. I adore the creations he makes with them, especially because he’s not big on coloring like I am (though he does enjoy a good scribble with washable markers on the sliding glass door sometimes), and he often comes up with some pretty elaborate structures.

I should note that I have no affiliation with Magnatiles or the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and have not been reimbursed in any way for blogging about them.
